AIT offers a wide range of cultural events and excursions for its students. Extracurricular activities are generally scheduled on weekends and are organized and managed by AIT staff. Most activities are optional, with the exception of orientation and closing events. Some are provided as a courtesy by AIT, while others may involve additional fees. These experiences allow students to immerse themselves in Hungarian culture, explore the country’s natural beauty and form lasting friendships. In addition to the AIT organized events, US students are
encouraged to enjoy the advantages of studying together with Hungarian students. They are happy to take US students to local events and to introduce them to student organizations. The list of planned extracurricular activities in each semester includes, but not limited to:
Scavenger Hunt
Each semester kicks off with an exciting scavenger hunt in Budapest, where students team up to explore the city, solve clues, and visit famous landmarks. We believe this event is a fantastic way to start the semester, as it helps students get to know their new hometown, Budapest, while also bonding with new classmates. In addition, the winning team receives an awesome prize!

Exploring Hungary
Every semester, AIT organizes one or two one-day trips around Hungary. Depending on the weather, AIT aims to showcase some remarkable landmarks. These trips may include hiking in the nearby Buda Hills (e.g., Visegrád, Zebegény), visiting Hungary’s “sea,” Lake Balaton, or exploring nearby towns with impressive monuments, such as Esztergom. The itinerary varies each time, but we strive to plan a day that combines hiking or walking, cultural experiences, and a bit of relaxation (like thermal baths).

Festive events at AIT
Every year, we make an effort to celebrate important holidays at AIT. The building is decorated to reflect the theme of some holidays. We host a Halloween contest at school, as well as a Thanksgiving dinner in the cafeteria. Valentine's Day is also a special occasion we like to celebrate. Additionally, at the end of each semester, we organize a closing event as a farewell dinner.
